Changes in Customs Regulations in Argentina

Argentina remains one of the most intricate countries in the globe to import into. Since the new government was elected in December 2023, many changes in local regulations and import/export processes have occurred. The country is now oriented towards opening the international trade market, achieving shorter lead times, and expediting processes throughout.

Previously required approvals such as SIRIM, SIRA and LNA (Non-Automatic License), which were difficult and lengthy to achieve, are now consolidated into a single import permit known as SEDI (Import Statistics System) & LNA is no longer applicable. The average lead time for completion for SEDI currently varies between 1 to 3 days. Depending on the type of goods, HS codes to be imported/exported, and the business model, additional requirements are triggered.
